Trustees

Arusha is the current Chair of the Board of Trustees. She possesses a natural affinity for various art forms, with personal interests in health and wellness too. She considers the Bristol Reggae Orchestra as an ideal outlet to promote wellbeing in a fun and social way through the city. With a Jamaican background, she strives to attract individuals who can benefit from engaging with the music, culture and community that the orchestra provides.

Her primary motivation lies in the sustainability of BRO as a community of music in which young people in Bristol can culturally identify with over the long term. Her experience in bid writing, report writing, social media and research project management are invaluable to the Board at this exciting time for the organisation.

Barrington is one of the founding members of the orchestra who credits reggae music as a significant vessel for spreading love and bringing people together. His long-standing commitment to the orchestra as percussionist, drummer and MC highlights how much he embodies its spirit and mission.

Over the years, he has been a crucial figure in the growth of BRO, particularly its engagement with the local community and schools and singing with the Windrush Choir. Born and raised in St James, Jamaica, his foundation in roots rock reggae continues to be key to the evolution of our outreach programme.

"My aspirations are to see the orchestra spread its wings and to represent Jamaica internationally. I hope to share my expertise in grooving and playing reggae with the different communities we engage with through our events."

Kevin Milwood, known best as DJ K Anthony, is a highly respected Information Security Professional, with many years of experience in the financial service industry, a public speaker for World Cyber Congress, DTX Events, B-Sides and more.

He has over 25 years' experience in music events, both as a DJ and as a marketing and promotions specialist. He has previously managed two nightclubs in the Bristol area and featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra with accolades including the best music event in the UK (various national press coverage).

Sharon has almost 40 years of customer support experience. Those customers ranged from Fund Managers in the City of London as a Market Data Analyst, University students as a note taker and primary school children as an administrator/kitchen support assistant in deepest Devon. She currently works at Access Creative College in Bristol as a Centre Administrator assisting students (16+ years), tutors and parents.

She is honoured to bring past experiences to help further the growth of the Bristol Reggae Orchestra and Windrush Reggae Choir with community projects and beyond.

Rebecca has been a Clarinettist and occasional vocalist with the orchestra since 2010. She also served as the Orchestra Leader from February 2021 to July 2023. Rebecca is a Psychology graduate and has 20 years of experience in youth and community arts. She is currently project managing a National Lottery Heritage Fund restoration of an Old Magistrates Court that will become a creative enterprise for young people,on behalf of Creative Youth Network. Rebecca is also a Non-exec Director for charity Beyond the MIx.

Rebecca believes strongly that music is a powerful tool for education, learning and self-expression and is excited to support BRO as they develop this next part of their journey.

Wesley is our newest addition to the Board of Trustees, joining  in 2023. A trombonist himself, he is keen to play his part is ensuring others have the same opportunities for fun and fulfilment though music that he has enjoyed in his time. Outside of music Wesley is undertaking an accounting traineeship in Bristol and is also a keen rugby player.
